He is a 5 Grammy award winner musician in 2017 for Lila Downs´s “Salón Lagrimas y Deseo”, 2015 “Balas y Chocolate”, 2012 “Pecados y Milagros” and he participates with Harp Virtuoso Celso Duarte in two concerts for Carnegie Hall in New York.

He also recorded Lila Down´s CD Raíz, along with Niña Pastori, and Soledad Pastorutti (also Grammy awarded). Currently, he tours with Lila Downs, and Carlos Rivera.

He has been a supporting drummer for important clinicians such as Steve Lukather (TOTO), Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big), Michael Thompson (studio musician), Oscar Stagnaro (Paquito D’ Rivera), and some others.

From his studio in Mexico City, Luis has taught drumming for 15 years.

He has also taught drumming and music theory in the drum department of the “Academia de Música Fermatta “from 2002 to 2008.

The Secretaria de Educación Pública has acknowledged Luis’s professional expertise by awarding to him the degree “Honoris Causa” as a teacher and performer.

Self-taught, he has taken master classes with important contemporary musicians including Dave Weckl, Chuck Silverman, Duncan Patton (percussionist of the Boston Conservatory), Dave Weigert (drum teacher at the Berklee College of Music), Antonio Sánchez (drummer with the Pat Metheny Group), Mike Mangini (drummer with metal band Dream Theater), Juan Carlos Novelo (drummer with Armando Manzanero, Tania Libertad).
